About

K-Drama History exists for one kind of moment: you're deep into a Korean historical drama, something happens on screen that clearly matters to the characters — a haircut, a bow, a refused marriage — and you have no idea why. We explain why.

Each post starts from a single scene in a drama you already love, then opens it into the real history behind it: Korean dynasties, Confucian values, court life — and, our favorite part, how the same idea played out elsewhere in the world, both East and West. We don't just translate Korean history; we put it in conversation with the world.

The history here is written and fact-checked in partnership with a Korean historian who has spent years teaching East Asian and world history. The aim is simple: history that's accurate, and told as a story worth reading.

Welcome. Pull up a scene.
